James: Living Out Your Faith

Hey Fox Meadow Family, this is Pastor Tim. I have the privilege of preaching this Sunday and filling in for Pastor Rick. We will be taking a break from the book of Galatians and exploring James 1:1-18 together in a message called "Every Good and Perfect Gift." This passage is all about trials (1:2-12), temptations (1:13-15), and the character of God as it relates to these things (1:16-18).

As you can imagine, my wife and I experienced a difficult summer of trials. Early on, God directed me to the book of James, and the words found there really fed by soul. James 1:1-18 in particular helped clear up misconceptions about trials and temptations and gave me an interpretive lens through which I could better understand our experiences.

I came to love the way that James writes! It's so immensely practical and filled with vivid imagery from everyday life. He is mainly concerned with the connection between what we believe and how we live, and that is why I have chosen to summarize the book this way: "James: Living Out Your Faith."

We started going through James at ELEVATE (our youth group), and then I discovered that God had also placed James on the heart of Tracy Pollner, our men's group leader! I have really enjoyed our fruitful discussions the past few Tuesday mornings at men's group and the past few Wednesday nights at youth group.

Please pray for me as I prepare the message, and pray that the congregation would be receptive to what God has to say through me. "May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer" (Psalm 19:14).

Grace be with you,

Pastor Tim

Fall Kickoff: Sep 9th

Fall is in the air, and so is the beginning of the new ministry year! Our Fall Kickoff is coming up on Sunday, September 9th, at 10:00 AM at the Tri-Lakes YMCA! We have an exciting morning planned, and we will be sharing new ways that you can connect, grow, and serve with us.

The morning will begin with a short congregational meeting at 9:15 AM in the community room. We will be sharing some important information and selecting the pastoral search committee.

Then at 10:00 AM, we will gather in the gym for our Fall Kickoff worship service! We are excited to welcome Tara Behr to our praise team! God has blessed her with amazing vocal talent, and we look forward to getting to know her better. Many people have expressed interest in joining the church, and Pastor Tim will be unveiling the fall membership process. Pastor Rick will be continuing our journey through the book of Galatians as we explore the beginning of chapter 3 together. Please be praying for Rick as he prepares to preach and that we would be receptive to what God has to say through him.

Finally, we will gather in the aerobics room at 11:30 AM for our first Connect Lunch of the fall! This is a great opportunity to get to know one another better and to learn about what God is doing at Fox Meadow Church. Even if you don't bring anything, we would love to have you join us for lunch!

So that's just a snapshot of what all is happening this Sunday. Please be in prayer for the morning and for this upcoming ministry year. We look forward to seeing what God will do in and through Fox Meadow Church!

Welcome

Dear Fox Meadow Church Family,

Welcome to the new Fox Meadow Church blog! We started this blog as a way of connecting with one another and keeping the church informed about what God is doing in and through FMC. We also hope this blog will be a great tool in spurring one another on to grow in the faith. As 2 Peter 3:18 says, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."

Grace be with you,

Fox Meadow Church
